Feng Shui Bagua

Feng Shui Bagua

The Feng Shui Bagua is a template or map used by all schools of feng shui to orient one’s self to the planet, the compass directions, and a dwelling or building’s energy flow, known as “chi”. The objective in auspicious design consulting is to foster an  ease of circulation with regards to the air flow and passage ways for people or animals.

Using this template, Feng Shui Masters determined where to position the key buildings in a village, and the key furniture in a home.

When surveying where to plant crops, early feng shui masters recognized the role that the compass directions play in offering life-giving sunshine, or protective shade. Residents of the homes which had an abundance of morning Sun seemed to have sunny dispositions & were well-known & liked, with the light, or so they believed.

Thus, the Southern facing for the front door became ideal.  And those with a North facing door seemed to be more serious, more industrious.

Today, we can take this symbolic tools to create interior or exterior designs which emphasize one’s intuitive perception of what works best for you. For example, you intuitively want a clear path from the entrance of a room or building to its exit. You may prefer rooms which are neither too cluttered, nor too sparse. All design combines aesthetics with function, but feng shui adds a third component, that of auspicious alignment with the sublime forces of the Universe.
